The 2026 Maine Career & Technical Education (CTE) Students of the Year Award Banquet was a meaningful celebration recognizing outstanding students from across Maine’s 27 CTE centers for their technical excellence, leadership, dedication, and contributions to their communities. Held on May 2, 2026, at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor, the event brought together students, families, educators, and industry partners to honor the remarkable achievements of Maine’s future workforce and leaders.

Westbrook Regional Vocational Center was proud to recognize Madison Ouellette as our 2026 Student of the Year. Madison was also awarded a generous $1,500 scholarship from the Maine Blue Collar Scholarship Foundation through the support of Mr. Shawn and Mrs. Christine (Chrissi) Moody. We are incredibly grateful to the organizers, sponsors, and supporters who continue to invest in Maine students and celebrate the importance of career and technical education across our state. Please help us celebrate Maddie for this incredible accomplishment! We are so proud of her hard work, determination, and success.

We would also like to recognize and thank her teacher, Mrs. Bruns, and Educational Technician, Mrs. Linscott, for their dedication, encouragement, and caring support throughout Maddie’s journey.

Congratulations, Maddie!!! The WRVC family is incredibly proud of you.

Here's a snapshot of the amazing Miss Maddie from her teacher's perspective...

Though quiet in demeanor, Maddie’s impact speaks volumes. Her passion for working with children is unmistakable, evident in every moment she spends with them and warmly reciprocated by the children and families who adore her. Maddie builds meaningful connections with ease, and her kindness, patience, and genuine care shine through in all she does. She is a highly motivated, self-directed learner who consistently demonstrates excellence, from thoughtfully crafted lesson plans to insightful writing and strong academic performance.

Through her completion of the University of Maine Farmington’s Early Childhood Pathway and early enrollment at Central Maine Community College, Maddie will graduate with an impressive 29 college credits, reflecting both ambition and discipline.

What truly sets Maddie apart is her unwavering commitment to serving others. She goes above and beyond without hesitation, whether coming in on a snow day to complete a project with children for O’Donal’s Nursery, stepping in to support programming at Smiling Hill Farm, or ensuring caregiver coverage for a Maine Roads to Quality Training. She is a dedicated member of SkillsUSA, and Maddie has grown from volunteering behind the scenes to earning a gold medal in the Early Childhood competition. She also represents WRVC as a Student Ambassador. Whatever Maddie does, she leads with kindness, humility, and purpose, embodying the very best of career and technical education.
