Cougar

Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,

Happy Wednesday! I hope your week has been going well. It’s wonderful to see the fall season settling in, and I hope you and your family are enjoying the beautiful foliage and cooler temperatures.

We have been busy at Congin! Here are some updates for this week:

  1. It's Wednesday, so that means it is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 2:30.

  2. This Friday we will be having a Dress as Your Favorite Book Character Day! Students can come to school dressed as their favorite character. Please make sure that students wear costumes that are school-appropriate with no toy weapons or anything considered scary.

  3. We are gearing up for our next theme for the month of November. We are going to be focusing on the theme of gratitude, and we are going to be rolling it out at our assembly on Monday, November 3rd. Instead of earning something this month, we are asking students/families to show gratitude by donating snacks and food items to support our students and families in need. I have attached a flyer with items that we are looking for, so if your family is able to donate, we would love to collect items including individually wrapped snacks and nonperishable items. Please let us know if you have any questions!

  4. Thank you to all of those who attended the Happy Wheels Skate Night last Friday. We had a great turnout and our PTO ended up raising almost $300! Thank you for supporting our amazing PTO.

  5. Speaking of PTO, our next PTO meeting will be on Monday, November 10th at 5:30pm in the Congin cafeteria. If you would like to attend virtually, this is the meeting link!

  6. Our PTO's yearly Silent Auction will be taking place from November 2nd-November 9th! We have many exciting items available to bid on. I have attached a flyer with a QR code if you are interested in seeing what is available. Additionally, on November 9th from 2-5pm, we will have an in-person Silent Auction at Westport Bowling! Come and enjoy some bowling while bidding on some auction items. Attendees will be responsible for lane rentals. We are also still accepting donations for our themed boxes. I have attached the flyer to check out the themes for each grade level.

  7. Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up! Invites have been sent out, and we look forward to discussing your child's progress so far this year. If you have not scheduled conferences with your child's teacher, make sure to reach out to them.

  8. This is our last call for any school picture orders. We will not be accepting any further picture orders after Friday, October 31st. If you plan on ordering, please do so before Friday.

  9. November 5th is going to be a normal early release day with students getting dismissed at 2:30.

  10. November 6th is an early release day where students will be dismissed at 11:30. Please make sure you know how your child will be getting home, and please let your child's teacher and Stacy Symbol, our administrative assistant, know if there are any changes.

  11. There will be no school on November 11th for Veterans Day.

  12. We are still accepting donations of lightly used winter gear such as boots, jackets, snow pants, hats, etc. for our Winter Gear Event taking place on November 6th during parent teacher conferences! We have a donation box in the vestibule of our school for any donations!

  13. It's a great day to be a cougar!

Sincerely,

Marc Bisson
