Good Morning Congin Cougar Families,
Happy Wednesday! Can you believe that we are almost at the end of October?! This year is flying by, but there is a lot of learning taking place, and our students are growing, which is always amazing to see.
Here are some updates for this week:
It is bus safety week, and we are celebrating our school bus drivers! Each day, our PTO is providing gifts of appreciation to our bus drivers, so thank you to our PTO! Make sure to thank a bus driver if you get to see them at the bus stop. Additionally, bus drivers are taking the time this week to practice bus evacuations in the spirit of bus safety week, so don't be surprised if your child is coming home and discussing evacuating the bus.
Parent teacher conferences are coming up! You should have received a virtual invite from me yesterday via Reach My Teach. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher. This is always an exciting time as we get to share how much your child has already learned this year, so we hope you are able to sign up for a conference.
Happy Wheels Skate Night will be taking place at Happy Wheels this Friday, October 24th from 5-7pm. The cost of this experience is $11, which includes the costs of skate rentals. If you plan on bringing your child to skate night, you MUST stay with your child at all times. This is not a drop off event. We hope to see you there!
We had picture day last Friday! The students did a great job getting their pictures taken. If your child was sick or missed picture day, do not worry! We will have a picture retake day on December 5th.
Our cougars are continuing their work with respect going into this last week, and they are still earning their respectful pumpkins! I will announce on Friday how many respectful pumpkins we earned to see if we met our goal of 400 pumpkins. If we earn our goal, we will have a "Dress as Your Favorite Book Character" Day on October 31st.
Please consider donating your used winter outwear for our Winter Gear Event! Keeping our Congin Cougars warm and cozy through the winter can cost a lot, financially and environmentally. By working as a community, we can reduce the impact of both. This year during parent teacher conferences, the Congin PTO will host a FREE Winter Gear Event. You are welcome to BRING winter gear your child has outgrown or you no longer need (even better, DONATE in advance!), and/or TAKE any items left by others that will work for your family. Any leftover gear will be donated first to our elementary schools to help students and families throughout the winter and then to Maine Needs. If you would like to donate, please send in outerwear items with your child and we have a collection box in the front of the school! Let us know if you have any questions.
Our PTO is selling Congin Spirit Wear! If you are interested in purchasing some Congin gear, visit this link to order some of the options! This sale will be taking place until 11/13!
We are gearing up for our PTO's annual Silent Auction, and we are looking for your help in creating some themed baskets. I have attached a flyer if you are interested in donating.
As we head into November, please remember that November 5th is a normal early release day with students being dismissed at 2:30. November 6th is a half day and students will be dismissed at 11:30. On November 11th there will be no school for Veterans Day.
It's a great day to be a cougar!
Sincerely,
Marc Bisson
Principal
Congin School
