Mrs. Drouin's class went on an educational field trip to see “Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About a Terrible Monster” at the Westbrook Performing Arts Center put on by Portland Ovations. It was an amazing experience that exposed students to the performing arts and how stories can be told through multiple creative mediums (theater, puppetry, music, and film). The story helped deepen the understanding of emotions, empathy, and friendship—core themes from Mo Willems’ books and important elements of social-emotional learning. Students left the performance eager to transform their own stories into puppetry.
